"Tsubame Station" depicts a girl who is frightened by the shadow of death until she decides to undergo heart surgery. Through the lens of a boy who repeatedly runs away from home for only one day every Sunday, "Sunday Rebellion" explores the loneliness of modern children. "Friends" whose eyes are keenly focused on the decadence of the classroom. And the title work, "Next to the Child," depicts a fragment of life as seen through the eyes of a four-year-old boy.. Four jewel-like stories that supple reflect the loneliness and anxiety of children living in the present day.
